One of the most famous NGO's in the world, WWF (World Wide Fund For Nature) has made headlines! In france, WWF's latest awareness campaign on Instagram caught everyone off guard. The NGO worked in collaboration with the advertising agency TBWA and some popular Instagramers/Influencers. It all started a few days ago, when some Instagram accounts posted photographs of the world's natural wonders, letting them pass for the place of their last vacation. The comments and the likes were numerous, and many people showed their desire to go to these magnificent places. Some of the comments rang, "Stunning! "," Beautiful ", or "Too beautiful! Where is this?”.
But what no one knew was that these photos were in fact extremely retouched. Places of origin are much less attractive because of man-made pollution. Later, the same Instagram accounts published a second photo, the original this time, accompanied by the following message: "Unfortunately, today this place no longer resembles that. #TooLaterGram. But save the places that can still be saved. "
A Succesful Campaign and Collective Awareness
The places highlighted during this campaign are Greenland, Guyana, the Great Barrier Reef, Brazil, California, Mont. Blanc, Henderson Island, Yangtze Kiang and Sumatra. The NGO subsequently published a video to explain the whole operation. So it's a very smart two-step awareness campaign from WWF. It helps to position the public against what man has caused on Earth. To show abruptly what the beauty of the planet has lost due to pollution allows us to realize the magnitude of the consequences of our activities.
