Benito Martin, a Sydney-based culinary photographer, has partnered with stylist Gemma Lush on this project, unsurprisingly, "White." Minimalism is the new fad when it comes to the art world. A lot of artists have turned to an art that requires 1 still-life object and 1 color. It is then up to the art to determine the position of the object, what may be on the object or what message is to be conveyed.
Benito Martin is already well known for numerous food-related projects but not quite like this one. The idea of partnering with the also extremely well known Gemma Lush, who styles food and props for a living, was a bright one. In their series, the fruits and vegetables are painted white, only to leave one side visible, vividly displaying the bright color through the minimalist white background and surroundings. Since the white dominates the photo, it shows that for the sole purpose of magnifying the acid colors of food. Benito Martin's captivating decor captivates the eye with bright colors, but it also gives you the opportunity to apprehend the unique and often underestimated beauty of every fruit and vegetable.
