Building the Singapore Meero team with Dawn
While Meero may only be three years old, we have grown by leaps and bounds and can now proudly say we are serving more than 100 countries around the world with our all-in-one photography solution. Today, we provide photographers by providing them with guidance, educational material, a platform to communicate with each other and connecting them with top global brands. Every week we meet a new Meero team member who is passionate about changing the world of photography for good. Today, we’re heading to the Singapore office to meet Dawn, who’s helping to shape the Singapore office in recruitment!
Why did you decide to join Meero?
I wanted something where I could contribute to how a company would grow instead of placing people in different companies and then not really being able to see if they enjoy their job, so I joined Meero in recruitment. So that’s how I found myself here.
What is experience been like so far?
It’s a startup, you know what they say, things are going to be constantly changing and it’s going to be very fast-paced.
Its been exciting to start working with the people that I hired into the company and see how they re enjoying their job, what their concerns are and how we can help and how we can just continue improving the office.
How does Meero compare with your previous experience in recruitment?
In recruitment, you get to speak with a lot of professionals, and when they present themselves it can become quite repetitive. Because everyone wants to sell themselves well, give you critical information and it can become quite tedious.
But here at Meero, when I am recruiting for them, I know who is going to do well based on impressions. If I find that I enjoy talking with them and I get along with them engage with them, then I know they could be the right person because they just have the right energy, the energy that we want to bring into the office.
What do you look for when you are recruiting someone for Meero?
Aside from their sales experience, I am always asking “What positive influence can you bring into the office?”
That’s been really important for us because we are going to work really hard together and we need people who aren’t going to be a negative influence just by preserving through the hard times so that we can get to the good times.
Can you explain what you do at Meero in three words?
Hire great people.
Can you tell us a little about the Singapore office?
How would I describe the people here?
They are very funny, they are very focused. We are really looking forward to reaping the benefits of the successes that we are trying to build up to.
Any fun facts to share?
I really, really enjoy traveling. I visited six countries in Europe in two weeks. Which I think is too rushed, I would love to do it again but space it out over two months rather than two weeks. It was a whirlwind though, and one of the most memorable trips I have ever done.
